cPanel is designed for use by commercial Web hosting services. To the client, cPanel provides front-ends for certain common operations such as the management of PGP keys, mail accounts, FTP accounts, crontab tasks, image manager, etc. Many add-ons are also provided, for instance, Fantastico,a script which allows the automated installation of open source web applications.
Many web hosts offer “Reseller Accounts”. These accounts usually have huge amounts of disk space and bandwidth. These accounts allow clients to resell their resources to others. Resellers get access to an additional control panel called Web Host Manager (WHM). This allows resellers to create and manage sub-accounts.
WHM has induced the growth in the number of Web hosting companies all over the world as it makes it very simple for even an inexperienced Internet users to provide web hosting services.
