A Step by Step guide to installing SQL Server 2008 simply and successfully with no prior knowledge.

Before you start the installation, you’ll need to install the .Net 3.5 Framework

You can download Microsoft® SQL Server® 2008 Express with Advanced Services – Here

After you download the file, you’ll need to launch the program from the following dialog. Click the Run button to continue.

The next screen requests you accept the license agreement. Please make sure you do that or you could run into trouble later on if you violate the EULA. Click the Accept button to continue.

The installation will start and then you get to wait. It is at this point that the installer will examine and patch your operating system. While you think you’re up-to-date, you’ll probably see a couple patches applied before the real installation starts.

After you start the installation, you’ll see this dialog. It’ll even reappear after completing the install, and ultimately you may need to click the Cancel button. You don’t have to worry at that point because it’ll be installed.

After you’ve started, this is the dialog you’ll get after applying operating system patches. You’ve really no choice but to reboot if you want to install SQL Server 2008 Express successfully.

This is the first installation screen. Make sure you select the correct version of SQL Server 2008 Express. Typically, you’ll want the one with Advanced Services. Click the appropriate radio button, and then the Install button.

When you see this dialog, you’re installation has truly begun. Don’t click the Cancel button now.

The file extraction takes several minutes. Have something ready while you wait or take a break.

After the file extraction, you’ll see the SQL Server 2008 Setup Support Rules dialog. Click the OK button to continue.

You only get a choice on this dialog if you’re installing the full version. Choose Next to continue.

Check the I accept the license terms box, and then the Next button to continue.

All the rest was plumbing. Now you start the SQL Server 2008 installation. Click the Install button to continue.

You’ll see this for a few minutes before you’re prompted to continue.

You should get all check marks but a lot of folks forget to open the firewall ports. If you forgot, this is what you’ll get as output. Return to the top of the post and open the required ports before continuing. When you’ve opened the ports, click the Next button to continue.

You’ll get this prompt only when you failed to open the ports before beginning the installation. Click the OK button to continue.

The Feature Selection dialog is important. You should probably make the same choices as shown if you’re deploying a development machine. That’s really all you’d want to do with SQL Server 2008 Express edition. Click the Next button to continue.

Now you accept the installation of SQLExpress as the named instance by clicking the Next button.

Now you accept the 1,446 MB space requirement by clicking the Next button.

The account name must be an authorized user account defined by the operating system or left blank. Use the built-in Network Service account for all three services listed (this account does not require a password).

In addition, remember to change the Startup Type to Automatic, for all three services. This automatically starts the SQL Server database engine, SQL Agent and SQL Browser services when the server is re-booted.

Change the Authentication Mode to Mixed Mode unless you are certain you only need Windows-only authentication.

* Many third party applications rely on SQL Server logins to operate correctly, so if you are setting up a server for a third party application, rather than one developed in-house, enabling Mixed Mode authentication is a good idea.

If you pick Mixed Mode security, you must also enter a password for the sysadmin account (sa).
Enter and confirm a secure password for the sa account and keep it somewhere safe. Do not give it to any one you do not want to have access to the SQL Server.

Click Next button to continue.

Now the install will check if everything works before attempting it with the rules you’ve entered. Click the Next button to continue.

After verifying the installation is possible, you’ll see what you’re installing before you click the third Install button to continue.

It is now time for another break while SQL Server 2008 Express edition installs.

If you arrive at the next screen, SQL Server 2008 Express is installed.

Now you’ll see the final installation dialog and the link to the installation log file.

Now the final prompt before configuration. Yes, you must now reboot the system again.

You’ve now installed SQL Server 2008 Express with Advanced Services

his instruction is written for RPM-based systems (RedHat, Fedora, CentOS, etc…).

Please perform the following steps to recreate Qmail`s queue.

Attention!
All current messages will be removed from the queue in this case and cannot be restored.

1. Stop Qmail and xinetd.

/etc/init.d/qmail stop
/etc/init.d/xinetd stop

2. Move current queue to another location.

mv /var/qmail/queue /var/qmail/queue_old

3 Reinstall ‘psa-qmail‘ RPM to recreate qmail queue structure with the command like:

rpm -Uvh –force psa-qmail….

4.(Optional).Reinstall drweb-qmail RPM if you use DrWeb antivirus feature which comes with Plesk.

rpm -Uvh –force drweb-qmail….

5.Start Qmail and xinetd:

/etc/init.d/qmail start
/etc/init.d/xinetd start

Note: you should get the both psa-qmail and drweb-qmail RPMs from the same Plesk version distributive that is installed on the server.
You can obtain current psa-qmail, drweb-qmail RPMs and Plesk build versions by running the following commands on Linux systems:

rpm -q psa-qmail
rpm -q drweb-qmail
rpm -q psa

virtual private server, or VPS or VDS is really important factor to be considered with the way Internet world is getting fast every day. With increasing work of Webdevelopers, webdesigners in online market they got rich database and loads of information. I wish to focus here on why a VPS Server is important for such webdevelopers and designers who are looking to expand their online presence.

The first major problems that hits most of the web designers and webdevelopers on shared Web hosting is they get restricted access to shared server. They dont get root access to install necessary modules for application or website they are developing for customers.Secondly factor is resource usage limitation and speed. On shared Hosting they cannot perform multiple active nor they can perform high speed work or install high resource scripts on shared hosting.. it more likely that Web Hosting provider will suspend there shared hosting account as they dont wish to affect other shared hosting customers,Service providers would try to avoid this problem, since it would mean a loss in their revenue. which is the right thing they do on there part to provider good quality hosting and 100% uptime to there customer.

So How can this problem be solved? VPS hosting is the best solution that a wedeveloper of webdesigner can look upon in such situation. Talking of UK VPS Hosting Advantage… They get root access, with dedicated resources. In VPS hosting the VPS Server is not shared with any other customer. So the VPS IP and resouces can 100% be used by webdevelopers, this gives them freedom to install Server end modules, upgrade PHP version, install MYSQL Server, Cronjobs or even high resource scripts.

Second major advantage of using UK VPS Hosting is its cost lot less than dedicated server with all the benifts you can get on a dedicated server. Other important factor to buy and VPS from UK VPS hosting provider is Most of the business owners in UK used to be hosted by providers from other parts of the world without realizing of the much benefit they missed. The development of the VPS UK changes all that. UK VPS companies recognized the fact that businessmen and businesswomen could learn and adapt to changes. They could therefore have a very clear understanding of the local business systems. UK VPS also have home court advantage over foreign service providers, since they have better access to businesses in the UK. As the technology developed, more local businesses recognized that Windows UK VPS hosting was only one of their options.

UK VPS, however, is still the most preferred service since their rates are charged in the local currency. One is able to overcome the extra charges that arise from the changing of the exchange rates. UK based clients would also be at an advantage since they can have very high loading speeds. Customers around the globe appreciate these advantages. The amount of transactions carried out would consequently increase tremendously favoring the businesses in the UK. The local websites are also given a priority by most search engines thereby enjoying a better ranking. There are innumerable benefits for local service providers. However, that doesn’t mean foreign providers are totally at a loss. Internships, for instance, can be obtained by students who want them via increased UK VPS. This goes ahead to ensuring that, a lot of businesses are carried out in the country. Through UK VPS, therefore, the local economy gets a boost thanks to the local businesses engaged in UK VPS.

The Most important aspect that most of the website owner overlook and focus on cheap, unreliable and free stuff hosting can risk high loss in the future while select the web hosting provider.

As reliable Web Hosting provider webhost.uk.net advice website owner , good, quality-led content is an exceptionally important element (if not, the most important aspect) of any good, reputable, successful and profitable web site in online Market.

Now the most important question that will rise in your mind is ” Does a select a right Web Hosting provider and choice between UK web Hosting provider or US Web Host matters for search engine ranking?” The and answer is surely YES.

While selecting a web Hosting provider website owners should avoid cheap or free Web hosting provider , who over stuff there servers. The first draw back is they have lots of downtime Secondly as they are offering free hosting can result in spammy ,porn or gambling website Hosting. This can result in backlisting of your server IP. Ultimately such free host can risk your online business.

And now with the new Google Panda updates in progress and also google plus importants,Website owner should look upon web hosting providers that offer reliable, fast and good uptime web hosting provider.

This can only be achieved by doing a good reacearch on internet reading reviews on forums , review sites etc… contacting the web hosting provider on Email ,chat and confirming things before you sign up.

Also due to google panda updates it has become really important that your site load fast. So if a UK website owner targetting UK Market selects a reliable UK Web Hosting provider with high uptime and good connectivity will result in fast loading of there site , which will surely help you rank high in search engine.

It is the second Tuesday of the month which means it is patch day over at Microsoft. The Redmond based company has released a total of four security bulletins that month. One bulletin has received a maximum severity rating of critical, while the three others one of important. The critical vulnerability addresses a issue in the Bluetooth stack that could allow remote code execution. Affected are only Microsoft Windows Vista and Windows 7, and not Windows XP or earlier operating systems.

Two of the three remaining vulnerabilities address issues in the Windows operating system as well. Security bulletin MS11-054 describes a vulnerability in Windows Kernel-Mode drivers that could allow elevation of privileges, while bulletin MS11-056 a vulnerability in the Windows Client and Server run-time subsystem.

All supported Microsoft client and server operating systems are affected by the two security vulnerabilities. The last issue is a vulnerability in Microsoft Visio.

Here is an overview of all four security bulletins with links to their pages at the Microsoft Technet website.

* MS11-053 – Vulnerability in Bluetooth Stack Could Allow Remote Code Execution (2566220)
* MS11-054 – Vulnerabilities in Windows Kernel-Mode Drivers Could Allow Elevation of Privilege (2555917)
* MS11-056 – Vulnerabilities in Windows Client/Server Run-time Subsystem Could Allow Elevation of Privilege (2507938)
* MS11-055 – Vulnerability in Microsoft Visio Could Allow Remote Code Execution (2560847)

The patches are as usual already available via Windows Update, Microsoft Update and via the Microsoft Download Center. The monthly exploit mitigation guide at the Technet Security blog provides additional information about the vulnerabilities and deployment strategies.

Probably the easiest way to deploy the security updates to a single system is via Windows Update.

Just click on Start > All Programs > Windows Update to open the update screen. You may need to click on Check for updates on the left sidebar if your computer has been up for some time and the updates are not displayed directly in the main window.
